Media Alert
The Department of Public Works discovered a violation in its monitoring of drinking water during the months of June through September 2014. According to Interim City Manager Tom Tyrrell, “We are required by law to notify all of our water customers of this violation although it happened three years ago. The most recent utility bill mailed to our customers contained this notification. The water has been tested properly in 2016 and is required to be tested every three years. The contaminants that required sampling were lead and copper. The quality of the water is currently meeting all testing requirements and the samples in 2016 were found to be compliant. There is no cause for alarm as the water has been tested
since 2014.”
