The Annual City-Wide Cleanup will be held Saturday, May 17, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Citizens can conveniently dispose their household/yard waste. Educational information regarding Container First Services and the City's Stormwater Management Program (MS-4 permit) will be available.
The clean-up stations include the following school parking lots:
A.P. Hill Elementary
J.E.B. Stuart Elementary
Peabody Middle
Petersburg High
Petersburg School Board Administrative offices
Pittman Annex
Robert E. Lee Elementary
Items not allowed in this clean-up or dumping include: anything hot, construction waste materials, debris larger than a pickup truck, equipment tires, fertilizers, hazardous materials, major automotive parts, oils, paints, tree trunks or root ball and more than four vehicle tires per citizen.
This effort is a part of the Stewardship Virginia Campaign, an initiative of the State, designed to help citizens with projects that enhance and conserve Virginia's natural and cultural resources.
Fort Lee soldiers will be volunteering at the City-Wide cleanup to help citizens unload items. Other partners include Container First Services and Central Virginia Waste Management Authority.
