City government offices, including City Hall, the City Hall Annex and the Petersburg Freedom Support Center, will be closed on Friday, January 15 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday and will be closed on Monday, January 18 in observance of Lee-Jackson Day. Offices will reopen at normal business hours on Tuesday, January 19.
Friday and Monday’s closings include Parks and Leisure Services and the Petersburg Public Library. All after school and senior programs will resume its regular schedule on Tuesday, January 19. The Petersburg Public Library will be open for regular hours on Saturday, January 16. Petersburg Animal Care & Control will only be closed on Monday, January 18.
Petersburg Area Transit (PAT) buses will also operate on a normal schedule for both the Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday and Lee-Jackson Day holidays. PAT administrative offices will be closed on both holidays.
The City of Petersburg Museums and Visitor Centers will be open on Friday, January 15 with normal winter hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), but will be closed on Monday, January 19.
Dogwood Trace Golf Course will operate normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.
Central Virginia Waste Management Authority CVWMA curbside recycling collection and trash collections will continue as regularly scheduled for the holidays. There will be no holiday delay for residential recycling on Friday, January 15 or Monday, January 18f. Residents should place recycling container(s) out for pick-up by 7 a.m. on their regularly scheduled collection day.
