[ARCHIVED] Siege Museum Closes for Major Renovations

The City of Petersburg announced today the closing of the Siege Museum at 4 p.m. on Thursday, November 5. The major renovations, as part of the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), will result in the closing of the museum for a year. Renovations will include the replacement of the roof, HVAC system, structural repairs, and overall maintenance to the historic museum.

The renovations will be an estimated $1 million investment to the building. The Siege Museum collections will be moved to a climate-controlled facility until renovations are complete.

“The City is very excited to announce that we will be moving forward with the improvement plans for the Siege Museum,” comments Brian C. Little, Sr., Director of Cultural Affairs, Arts and Tourism. “The museum is one of our most precious attractions in the city and these repairs will ensure the museum lasts for the enjoyment and use by future generations.”

Centre Hill Museum, Blandford Church and Reception Center, Farmer’s Bank Old Towne Visitor Center and Carson Visitor’s Center will remain open for events, tours and regular operation.
