The National Bar Association Commercial Law Section (NBA-CLS) has elected Brian Telfair, Petersburg’s City Attorney as the new Secretary for the organization. The announcement was made last week during the National Bar Association’s 90th Annual Convention in Los Angeles, Ca.
“I look forward to working with Mr. Telfair.” comments Gregory Wesley, NBA-CLS Chairman. “He brings tremendous perspective, great legal acumen and keen organizational skills to our group.”
Telfair has been a member of the NBA-CLS since July 2010. He was appointed as Petersburg’s city attorney November 2012. Prior to his current tenure, he served as Deputy City Attorney for Litigation and Public Safety in the City of Richmond.
The Commercial Law Section is one of twenty-three sections of the National Bar Association. The NBA-CLS has won the prestigious Section of the Year on numerous occasions and was named Outstanding Section of the Year for 2015.
The mission of the NBA-CLS is bring its outside counsel members together with in house counsel who seek to increase the diversity of their outside counsel ranks as well as to provide networking and education forums to address the interests of NBA members practicing in the area of Commercial Law. The CLS is also committed to serving the community and expanding the pipeline of African Americans entering the legal profession.
