Traffic Alert - St. Andrews Street Bridge Open in Petersburg
St. Andrews Street bridge is now open for traffic. The roadway and bridge connect Crater Road in the Blandford area with Jefferson Street in the Poplar Lawn community.
Construction to replace the 1968 bridge began at the end of 2020. Work was scheduled to be completed in early 2022, but an inspection in March revealed some structural issues which have been resolved.
The new bridge is about four and a half feet wider to meet Virginia Department of Transportation standards with a cost of approximately $2 million dollars.
