Petersburg Encourages Citizen Participation in New Comprehensive Plan
The City of Petersburg has kicked off its update to the Comprehensive Plan. This Plan is a broad statement about the community, looking 10 to 20 years into the future. It includes specific goals, and strategies to achieve those goals. Citizens are encouraged to complete a community survey available online (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PetersburgCompPlan) and in locations around the City including the Petersburg Library, Transit Center and Finance & Collections through the end of January, 2023. Community workshops will continue on January 26, from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the Petersburg Public Library, 201 W. Washington Street.
The Comprehensive Plan includes land use, economic development, transportation, tourism, infrastructure and community facilities and services. The policies defined in the plan will guide Petersburg’s future direction and priorities for growth, services, and land use regulation.
The Plan will build on recent and on-going efforts, such as the Partnership for Petersburg and the Downtown Master Plan. While the initiatives in Partnership for Petersburg will inform the strategies included in the Comprehensive Plan, the Plan will have a stronger focus on land use and development priorities.
