The City of Petersburg has partnered with the Southside Community Development and Housing Corporation (SCDHC) for two upcoming workshops in the community that will assist residents with credit, budgeting, saving money and more.
On Monday, September 15, 2014, SCHDC will offer a credit workshop at Tabernacle Baptist Church (411 Halifax St.) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Topics will include information about FICO scores, credit counseling, budgeting and other vital information. SCDC’s Housing Program Manager, Donna Stallings who is a HUD Certified Credit Counselor, will lead the workshop.
On Monday, September 29, 2014, SCHDC will lead a Virginia Individual Development Accounts (VIDA) workshop at Tabernacle Baptist Church from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The VIDA program is for individuals saving for a down payment on a home, business equipment and inventory or post-secondary education tuition payments. Eligible participants receive training, support and $2 in match funds for every $1 the participants saves, up to $4,400 in match.
