The City’s Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Service (FRES) is participating in the annual Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Fill the Boot Drive. Firefighters and emergency crews will be collecting donations throughout the Petersburg community over the weekend for the drive.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association raises money for research and programming to help people living with more than 40 neuromuscular diseases, including ALS.
“Petersburg emergency crews are excited to be partnering with MDA again this year to bring more awareness to the diseases.” said Deputy Chief Brief Sturdivant. “We encourage residents and visitors coming to Petersburg for the holiday weekend to make a donation to help us ‘fill the boot’.”
Petersburg FRES have been participating in this initiative over the last twenty years. Crewmembers will be at Wal-Mart (3500 S Crater Rd) and/or area intersections accepting donations:
Friday, August 29: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, August 30: Area intersections from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday, August 31: Noon to 6 p.m.
Monday, September 1: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
100% of the donations will go directly to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
