Albert Jones Field (806 Augusta Avenue) will remain CLOSED until further notice.
This closing is due to a downed utility pole with an electric transformer.
The City of Petersburg immediately reported this to Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and a prompt remediation was conducted. The City of Petersburg is consulting with DEQ and EPA regarding next steps.
The area must remain secure as a safety precaution for the General Public. We appreciate citizens cooperation and understanding.
