City of Petersburg Announces Opening of New Fiscal Management Building
Petersburg, Virginia: Effective Tuesday, January 21, 2020, the following Petersburg Government offices will be located at 144 North Sycamore Street: Office of Billing and Collections, Office of Finance, Office of Budget and Procurement, and Information Technology. While the Commissioner of the Revenue Office will also relocate to this facility, this office will move at a later date.
“This facility presented tremendous potential to create a climate that better reflects the level of customer service that Petersburg is moving toward,” said Petersburg Deputy City Manager for Development, Lionel Lyons. “The City is fortunate that majority of the renovation work was able to be performed by inhouse staff members from our Public Works Department.”
The first floor of the new facility will offer a larger space for the Office of Billing and Collections, Finance, and the Commissioner of the Revenue. The second floor will house the Offices of Budget and Procurement and Information Technology. This updated Fiscal Management Building also offers proper conference room spaces, updated technological features, and heightened modern security measures.
“Traditionally, these departments all operated in separate physical spaces, while many of their functional duties are tied to one another,” said Petersburg City Manager, Aretha R. Ferrell-Benavides. “Moving to this new facility will not only create a better experience for our customers, but also an enhanced work environment for our employees to implement a more streamlined process between City financial functions.”
Street parking spaces were restriped directly in front of the building to accommodate the needs of all visitors. Street parking is also available along Tabb street and Sycamore Street. These spaces will be enforced as 30-minute parking.
The Office of Billing and Collections and Office of Finance will be closed on Wednesday, January 15th and Thursday, January 16th for office relocation and in-service training. Limited processing will be available during those days. Payments will still be accepted online and through the drop box in front of City Hall.
