On December 12, 2023, the Crater Criminal Justice Academy held its 109th Basic Jailor’s class. The class consists of 17 recruits, they completed a 13-week course that included training in emergency vehicle operations, firearms, defensive and control tactics, basic legal training, and several other important areas of law enforcement operations. Among those recruits was Deputy Andrew Johnson from the Petersburg Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Johnson came to the Petersburg Sheriff’s Office with a wealth of experience in security and law enforcement. He has demonstrated and practiced the kind of accountability and professionalism that the public has every right to expect from a law enforcement officer. We thank Deputy Johnson for his willingness to make the sacrifice to put others ahead of himself and his commitment to public service.
