City of Petersburg Business License
A new business must obtain a business license from the Commissioner of the Revenue before conducting business in Petersburg. Any prerequisites, such as zoning ordinances, city permits, court orders or health department certificates, state certificates or licenses, must be complied with before obtaining the business license. Business license taxes are based on gross receipts. Tax rates vary depending on business category.
Businesses must file an application and pay applicable license taxes and fees prior to their first day of business. There are specific business license requirements depending upon the business type. All licenses expire December 31st of each year and must be renewed by March 1st of the following year.
