Marlow Jones, a native of Petersburg, was born into a military family, spending his childhood moving around the country before returning to Petersburg. After graduating from Petersburg High School, he followed in his family's footsteps by entering the military.

Following his military service, Jones began a 20-year tenure with the City of Petersburg, initially as a firefighter after graduating from the first Citizen's Cadet Academy. His commitment later led to his appointment as Assistant Fire Marshall. Jones later transitioned to the Commonwealth of Virginia, where he served as a Deputy State Fire Marshall.

In 2022, Jones opened OG Ribs & BBQ, adding restauranteur to his portfolio. Later that year, he was elected as the Ward 1 Councilman in Petersburg.

Having grown up in the "projects" in Petersburg, Councilman Jones is passionate about fostering self-sufficiency, promoting entrepreneurship, and encouraging mutual respect among community members. He is currently working on his book, "Hands Like Mine," which proposes solutions to "black on black" crime. Councilman Jones believes that education goes beyond academics - it should also foster good judgment, character, and the ability to prioritize rational thought over emotions.
