If I am active military and not a Virginia resident am I required to pay personal property taxes to the city of Petersburg for my vehicle?
No. You must provide your January Leave and Earning Statement for the tax you are being billed. If your vehicle is jointly owned with your spouse, they are required to compete a Spouse Affidavit stating that they are not a resident of the state of Virginia.
