The OA4 recognizes those agencies that lead the public procurement profession through the implementation of best practices. Agencies meeting the requirements are OA4 accredited for three years. The City’s Purchasing Office met stringent NIGP requirement in the following categories: Mission and Strategies, Organization, Authority and Responsibility, Standard and Professional Development, Best Practices, Audi and Evaluation, Cooperative Purchasing, Automated Purchasing Systems and Electronic Commerce.
“Receiving this honor acknowledges the City’s continued efforts to provide quality services to our local businesses and residents,” said Deputy City Manager, Irvin Carter. “Petersburg is proud to belong to an elite group of purchasing organizations that represent the highest sustained standards of quality and efficiency in government.”
NIGP has more than 2600 Agency members; however, only 86 agencies have received this recognition and award. Purchasing Office Agent, Tangela Innis will formally accept the award for the City during the NIGP Awards Gala on August 24, 2014 in Philadelphia, PA.
