The City of Petersburg Quality Circle for a Healthy Community partnered with Healthy Heart Plus II to offer this great opportunity to City Employees.
City Administration endorsed the idea and encouraged city employees to participate. City Manager William E. Johnson, III stated in a letter to all city employees, "Health and Wellness Programs can help our workforce become healthier and studies show the healthier you are the more effective your can be in the workplace".
City Employees in large numbers attended the Kick-Off and the Official Weigh-In at the Department of Social Services on January 14, 2014. The Kick-Off was full of eager and excited City Employees that were ready to shed pounds the healthy way.
Mrs. Alice Freeman with Healthy Heart Plus II encouraged employees to attend the scheduled health and wellness session each week and she disbursed Healthy Food Recipes to all in attendance.
City Employees have an opportunity to win the grand prize of $1,000 at the end of the campaign. Employees receive newsletters, healthy recipes, incentives, exercise classes, giveaways and the Petersburg Fire Department provides certified personal trainers for interested employees.
