[ARCHIVED] Traffic Update: I-95S Lane Closures Impacting Petersburg

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will be inspecting the Washington Street Bridge (Exit 52) starting today due to the vehicular damage earlier this week.

If traveling I-95 southbound this evening/weekend anticipate congestion due to lane closures. VDOT will be closing the right and center lane on I-95 southbound lane to inspect the condition of the Washington Street Bridge (Exit 52). Exit 52 southbound off ramp will still be open. In addition, the left lane on Washington Street and on-ramp to I-95 southbound will be closed. There will be a detour signage to direct motorists to use Wythe Street southbound ramp to I-85/I-95.

There is no timeframe at this time as to when the areas will be reopened to traffic. We will keep everyone updated on information.
