Structure
The Department of Public Works is organized into five divisions: Administration, Facility Management, Engineering, Street Maintenance and Grounds
The Director of Public Works manages and directs all employees and operations within the Department of Public Works.

Funding
The Department works together to ensure that citizens of the City of Petersburg benefit from well-built and properly maintained infrastructure systems.
- Services provided by the Department of Public Works are funded by:
- General Fund Revenue
- Permit Fees
- Solid Waste and Recycling Fees
- State and/or federal financial assistance for street maintenance

Infrastructure assets within the department’s responsibility center include approximately 395 lane miles of streets, 32 structures, 47 signalized intersections, 90 Buildings.
